Parents allege dowry harassment by husband for daughter's death

HYDERABAD: The parents of an MBBS doctor, who was declared brought dead at a city hospital, have alleged her husband who is also a doctor.
The deceased- Jaya Sri was rushed to Gandhi hospital after she collapsed and fell unconscious. She died even before doctor could start treatment.
Her parents claimed that she took some medicine which lowers the heart rate after being harassed by her husband Karthik, a resident of West Venkatapuram in Alwal. Read this story in Telugu
Jaya Sri's parents said she was being continuously tortured by her Karthik to bring more dowry. We had already paid them Rs 25 lakh, 450 grams of gold and two Kg of silver as dowry. He also wanted us to pay for the honeymoon in Singapore. He started to harass Jaya when we refused to pay him more.
Jaya and Karthik had met in China for the first time while pursuing MBBS there. Later, they both fell in love and decided to get married after completing their medical degree. Despite hailing from different castes, their parents agreed for the marriage. But the things started getting bad soon after the wedding when Karthik started harassing for dowry.
In his police complaint, Jaya Sri's father has accused Karthik and his family for his daughter's death.
